Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig on 21 September 1983) is an American actress best well-known for her role as Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television series Lost as well as Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. After her parents divorced, she moved with her mom in Los Angeles. Although she was struggling financially, her 2001 debut was as Rachel's Room's principal character. Her performance in the role of Martha Moxley, a 15-year-old victim of murder in the TV film Murder in Greenwich in 2002 earned her nominations for a Young Artist Award. Grace Rutherford, the role she played in Lost from 2004 until 2005 was selected for an Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace left the television series in 2005 to focus on an even more prominent role in movies, and had a role alongside Tom Welling as Kim Mills in Taken. In 2007, she starred as a character in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club and also, as Liam Neeson's Kim Mills as Kim Mills in Taken. In 2008, she reprised the role Taken 2 (2013) and Taken 3 (2015). She also played Alice on Malice in Wonderland which is a modern adaptation from the Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace returned to the Lost series for the last two episodes as Shannon. Grace appeared on Californication's 6th season that aired from 2013 until the year 2014. She is Faith as a girl who is a muse for the stars and catches the attention to Hank Moody (David Duchovny). Part of the Gyllenhaal family She is the child of filmmakers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs and is the younger sister of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. When she was a teenager She began working as a small part-time actress for her father. She also appeared in Donnie Darko alongside her twin brother. She then appeared as a character in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was praised by critics for her leading performances in the romantic erotic comedy drama Secretary (2002) and the thriller Sherrybaby (2006) both of which brought her an Golden Globe Award nomination. Following a string of commercially successful movies in 2006 including World Trade Center she received wider recognition for playing Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). The year 2009 was the time she received a nomination as the best supporting Actress at the Academy Awards for her portrayal of a single mother in Crazy Heart. The following years, she starred in comedies and dramatic films: Nanny McPhee & the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011 and Won't Back Down 2012. In addition to her role as a Secret Service agent, she also appeared on screen in White House Down (2013) as well as Frank (2014). The most recent roles include as the main character in The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). In 2021, Gyllenhaal made her writing and directing debut in the psychological drama The Lost Daughter for which she received The Lost Daughter the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated to win the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
